Why This Capability Matters

Well-performance problems often begin long before a well fails.

Completion choices made during design and execution can later influence production, reliability, intervention access, integrity exposure and workover requirements.

A well may be completed once, but the consequences of those decisions can remain for decades.

Strong completion capability therefore asks more than whether a design can reach first production.

It asks whether the well can perform, remain reliable and stay serviceable throughout its life.

What Participants and Organizations Gain

Participants strengthen their ability to:

  • Evaluate completion options against productivity, integrity and intervention requirements.

  • Connect reservoir behaviour with completion design.

  • Assess formation damage, stimulation and sand-control requirements.

  • Apply tubing sizing, stress-analysis and materials-selection principles.

  • Evaluate completion equipment across varied operating environments.

  • Translate engineering intent into executable completion programmes.

  • Strengthen workover feasibility and intervention planning.

  • Recognize how early design decisions affect future access and reliability.

  • Evaluate trade-offs across cost, production, integrity and lifecycle value.

Organizations benefit through:

Stronger Completion Quality
Improve design, component selection and execution readiness.

Fewer Avoidable Workovers
Reduce design weaknesses that later create intervention liabilities.

Improved Production Reliability
Connect completion design more closely with reservoir and operating requirements.

Better Lifecycle Economics
Consider reliability, future access, intervention exposure and asset value alongside initial installation cost.

Five-Day Learning Journey

The programme progresses from reservoir-completion integration through design, execution and workover strategy.

Day 1 | Completion Fundamentals & Reservoir Interaction

Completion philosophy, project lifecycle, reservoir interaction, Darcy's Law, skin, perforation, stimulation concepts and completion design.

Day 2 | Stimulation, Sand Control & Performance Diagnostics

Hydraulic fracturing, candidate screening, sand production, sand control, artificial lift, production chemistry and performance diagnosis.

Day 3 | Tubing Design, Stress & Materials

Tubing stress analysis, load cases, metallurgy, corrosion, material selection and completion equipment.

Day 4 | Completion Installation & Operational Execution

Equipment readiness, procurement, installation planning, well clean-up, execution discipline and selected emerging completion technologies.

Day 5 | Well Control & Workover Strategy

Well-control principles, killing methods, workover planning, suspension, P&A, production enhancement and lifecycle applications.

Want the complete technical curriculum?

The Programme Guide includes the detailed daily programme, engineering calculations, exercises, completion project, technology applications and participant outcomes.

Applied Learning

Learn It. Design It. Defend the Decision.

Participants work through calculations, field cases and engineering decisions while developing a team-based Completion Design Project.

The project integrates:

Reservoir → Completion Design → Equipment → Execution → Production → Intervention → Workover → Lifecycle Value

Teams present and defend the assumptions, technical trade-offs and engineering logic behind their recommendations.

Private cohorts may substitute actual organizational wells, developments or field challenges for the standard project.

Why This Programme

Practice-Led

Grounded in real completion, intervention and workover experience.

Integrated

Connects reservoir, stimulation, completion, production, integrity and intervention decisions.

Engineering + Operations

Combines engineering calculations with field execution and operational judgment.

Applied

Cases, exercises and the Completion Design Project move learning into practice.

Lifecycle-Focused

Examines how early design choices influence future production, reliability and intervention feasibility.

Future-Ready Completion Capability

The programme introduces selected developments in digital engineering, monitoring, automation, advanced materials and emerging subsurface applications where they strengthen completion and workover decisions.

The objective is not to turn the programme into an energy-transition course.

It is to ensure proven completion engineering remains relevant as assets, technologies and service environments evolve.

What Participants Value

“The project design component was especially valuable.”
Completion Manager

“The programme was highly relevant to my work and projects. Strong expertise in well completion made the content practical and applicable.”
Senior Drilling & Completion Engineer

“A strong programme combining theory, explanation, experience sharing, videos and real project examples. Interactive and grounded in field experience.”
